Writing has begun on the sequel to Will Forte’s MacGruber

Will Forte MacGruber 2 Jorma Taccone

Based on the repetitive Saturday Night Live sketch by the same name, MACGRUBER really had no business being as funny as it was. Even so, the film obviously wasn't everyone's cup of tea as MACGRUBER failed to to recoup its $10 million budget. Since then the film has gathered up a cult following and the prospects of a sequel have been brought up again and again. Will Forte has said that getting a sequel off the ground was a priority to him and last year he began working on an outline with MACGRUBER director Jorma Taccone.

It looks as though that outline has progressed to the script stage as Taccone posted several updates on Twitter which show Forte and himself getting to work.

Although I haven't seen MACGRUBER since its release and wouldn't count it among my favourite comedies, I'm totally down for another bizarre adventure with MacGruber and his gang of misfits. Of course there's no guarantee that the MACGRUBER sequel will see the light of day, but everyone involved seems very passionate about getting it there. Let the throat ripping begin, again.

Are you excited about a possible sequel to MACGRUBER?
