WWE’s John Cena joins Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s comedy The Nest

When he's not playing the millennial Hulk Hogan in the ring, John Cena tries to pop in to Hollywood every so often and make something happen. He's actually pretty busy with some upcoming roles; he's set to star in two big comedies over the next year. John Cena has signed on to appear in THE NEST, a comedy headlined by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The lovely ladies will reunite as sisters who decide to throw one last house party in their parents' home before it sells. It's like the big screen version of at least one episode of every sitcom of the '90s.

There is talk that John Cena is set to play the bad guy (a heel if you will) in the movie. Will he be an unwanted guest who doesn’t use a coaster? What about an angry neighbor trying to get some sleep? We wait on baited breath to find out. Cena is also going to star in the Judd Apatow-helmed TRAINWRECK written by Amy Schumer in another undisclosed role.

While I don’t think Cena will reach the heights of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, you can’t hate the guy. As bad as THE MARINE and 12 ROUNDS were, outside the ring and away from the camera, Cena plays a huge part in Make-A-Wish Foundation. He grants wishes for kids who want to meet him almost daily. Much respect right there.

Also starring is James Brolin who is set to play the father of Poehler and Fey, and fellow Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph will be a childhood friend. THE NEST will open on December 18th, 2015.
