X-Men: Dark Phoenix gets a cosmic teaser poster ahead of tonight’s trailer

The very first trailer for X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX will be unveiled tonight, which means that the morning is going to have a few goodies awaiting any fans of the mutant heroes. On that docket is both a video announcement for the trailer, which sounds silly in concept, but does feature some dialogue from the movie. But, what may hold ya’ll over until tonight is the first teaser poster for the movie, which finds Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) finding her place among the cosmos…all before her powers are increased to potentially-world-ending levels.

The first poster was expected to drop today along with the first footage, which will air tonight on the LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN. The poster does call to mind that very first WONDER WOMAN teaser poster, which sported a simpler orange and blue color scheme. DARK PHOENIX has a similar scheme, albeit with more stars and such.

As well, 20th Century Fox has revealed the first official plot synopsis for the movie, which is as follows:

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite – not only to save Jean's soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

The movie has gone through a bit of a struggle to get made, first with it being determined that series vet Bryan Singer would not return to direct after helming DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and APOCALYPSE. Longtime producer Simon Kinberg took over directing duties for the movie, and it was originally set for November 2 of this year. Then, amid a larger release shuffle, the date was pushed back several months to its new, current date, February 14, 2019.

Stay tuned for the trailer tonight! In fact, don't even leave the page. Get some chips, some sodas and stick around here for the long haul.
