Yahya Abdul-Mateen II & Sara Vickers added to Lindelof’s Watchmen pilot cast

Damon Lindelof's HBO WATCHMEN pilot is making some inspired moves this week with the reveal of their latest casting additions for the highly-anticipated TV series. Earlier today, it was announced that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (AQUAMAN) and Sara Vickers (SUNLIGHT ON LEITH) will walk the broken streets inspired by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' classic comic book series. Upon boarding the project, Abdul-Mateen II and Vickers will appear beside previously announced cast members Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher and Jacob Ming-Trent.

For the moment, we've not been given any details as to who the above-mentioned actors will play in the WATCHMEN pilot, though Lindelof has stated on numerous occasions that his WATCHMEN will break new ground for the series, while introducing a host of new characters. If you'd prefer, think of Lindelof's version as a redux of the original story. It'll help you sleep better at night. Directing the pilot is Nicole Kassell, who will shoot from a script written by Lindelof.

In recent times, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II starred as Cadillac for the Netflix musical drama THE GET DOWN. However, you'll have your chance to catch him on the big screen this coming holiday season when he stars opposite Jason Momoa as the villain David Kane / Black Manta for DC and James Wan's AQUAMAN. As for Sara Vickers, her most recent performance was for the show ENDEAVOUR as the character Joan Thursday. ENDEAVOUR is a British television detective drama series that hails from ITV. Set in the 1960s, the show follows Endeavour Morse in his early years as a police constable. Working alongside his senior partner DI Fred Thursday, Morse engages in a number of investigations around Oxford. She's also guest starred in THE ALIENIST, SHETLAND, LOVESICK and THE CROWN.

Damon Lindelof's WATCHMEN is currently in pre-production. We'll be sure to bring you more news related to the lofty project when it crosses our desk.
