Yellowstone: All episodes of the first part of Season 5 to stream exclusively on Peacock

The Dutton family is moseying to Peacock for a batch of new Yellowstone episodes. Beginning on May 25, all eight episodes of the first part of Yellowstone Season 5 will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock. The new episodes join all four previous seasons already available on the service.

In Yellowstone Season 5, the Dutton family fights to defend their ranch and way of life. Family secrets strain the Duttons, and political aspirations and outside partnerships threaten their future.

Over the weekend, Paramount announced Yellowstone is ending with the conclusion of Season 5. A Yellowstone sequel series starring Matthew McConaughey and (potentially) other cast members from the flagship series is planned.

According to an official release from Davis Glasser at 101 Studios, one of the production entities involved with the show, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”

The Yellowstone cancellation follows several months of rumors revolving around Kevin Costner’s alleged reluctance to commit to a significant shooting schedule for the series. Numerous reports say the Yellowstone star was only willing to return to shoot one additional week for the remaining episodes of Season 5. It remains to be seen how much of a role Costner’s John Dutton plays in the remaining episodes.

Could Costner’s John Dutton be killed off before the Season 5 finale? Possibly. If you think he could return, drama is attached to that theory—Yellowstone streams on Peacock, not Paramount+, the network’s in-house streaming service. A sequel series, even if it features much of the same cast, will stream on Paramount+, but were Costner to return, it might seem like the studio was pulling a fast one, so his exit will likely be permanent. This aspect of Costner’s exit is especially true if the rumors of bad blood between him and showrunner Taylor Sheridan are true. Sheridan is among the most prolific showrunners in the biz, having delivered a string of hits for Paramount+, including Mayor of KingstownTulsa King, and the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923.

Do you think Kevin Costner’s John Dutton will take a dirt nap before Yellowstone ends? Please feel free to share your theories in the comments.
