Yep, we’re getting a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade movie

And in today’s “But WHY?” announcements (in case a 3D reboot of DOOM isn’t enough), how about a movie based on a holiday parade?

It’s true — the Thanksgiving morning event famous for lip-syncing pop stars and giant inflated versions of familiar characters drifting through Manhattan will potentially be a movie.

Heat Vision says that producers Scott Glassgold and Raymond Brothers of IAM Entertainment grabbed the rights to develop a film about the department store’s annual parade in New York. “We’re aiming to make a four-quadrant, family-friendly film somewhere in that NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM, ELF sweet spot,” Glassgold said.

The producers are currently looking for writers to come up with a viable concept, which may involve the floats coming to life, naturally. And while it would be awesome if they went all Stay-Puft and started stomping on the gathered citizens, that’s probably not what we’re gonna get…
