Yet another name joins R.I.P.D.: Blade Runner alumn James Hong

Less than 24 hours ago Eric hit us all with the news that hottie Marissa Miller and funnyman Mike O’Malley were the newest names to join Ryan Reynolds and company in the upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel R.I.P.D.. Now that’s great news of course, and here I sit today with even more R.I.P.D. casting for you guys!

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog the latest to join the horror/comedy is BLADE RUNNER alumn James Hong. Hong (right) will be playing ‘Grandpa Chen,’ which will be Ryan Reynold’s avatar in the film. The avatar is what humans will see when Reynolds is in his earthly form. So we’ve got Hong for Reynolds and Marissa Miller for Jeff Bridges…. I have a feeling this is going to be a lot funnier than we expect it to be.

Welcome to the Rest In Peace Department — the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement “patrolling the deadbeat…reporting to one boss.” Yep — THAT boss. Nick Cruz was murdered by an unknown assailent, at the height of his personal and professional life. Now he’s traded a hundred years of service to the R.I.P.D. in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Unfortunately his search will take him to Hell and back — literally!

Hong joins Miller, O’Malley, Reynolds, Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak (below) and Mary-Louise Parker in the feature, which this schmuck is really looking forward to. Word has it production is slated to start soon in Boston on the Robert Schwentke flick with a June 2013 release date already pegged.
