Wesley Snipes’ Blade getting a 4K upgrade this December

The year is 1998 and quality superhero films are few and far between — enter BLADE. As the Stephen Norrington directed flick staring Wesley Snipes Blade features a half-vampire daywalker with all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses. Together with Abraham Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) and Karen Jenson (N'Bushe Wright), Blade fights against Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff), a vampire who seeks to the ancient blood god La Magra. It's been over twenty years, and Wesley Snipes’ BLADE is still as bad-ass as ever, and fans of the film will be pleased to know that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be releasing BLADE on 4K Ultra HD on December 1st. You can check out the new trailer above!

Here's the special features and technical specs for the 4K Ultra HD release of BLADE:

  • HDR PRESENTATION OF THE FILM
  • ENGLISH DOLBY ATMOS AUDIO TRACK
  • Audio commentary by cast and crew members
  • Featurettes:
    • La Magra
    • Designing Blade
    • The Origins Of Blade: A Look At Dark Comics
    • The Blood Tide
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Optional English SDH, Spanish, and French subtitles for the main feature

Wesley Snipes went on to reprise the role of Blade in BLADE II and BLADE: TRINITY, and although there was hope that he'd play the daywalker once more, the character is slated to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year that Mahershala Ali (True Detective) would be playing the rebooted vampire hunter. BLADE will be released on 4K Ultra HD on December 1, 2020.
