Your new hero is Malignant Man, from San Andreas director and James Wan

The newest comic adaptation from Fox is coming! No, it's not another X-MEN flick. It's MALIGNANT MAN, based on a Boom! Studios comic co-created by James Wan, who just smashed the box office with his hit sequel THE CONJURING 2.

The film will be directed by Brad Peyton, who most recently directed SAN ANDREAS. He also be helmed the INCEPTION-esque INCARNATE for Blumhouse, which comes out later this year. James Wan will be producing. He's certainly no stranger to comics, considering that he's currently in preparation to helm the DC adaptation AQUAMAN.

The story focuses on Alex Gates, a patient dying of a terminal disease who is resigned to his fate … until he discovers that his malignant tumor is actually a mysterious alien parasite. Now with some incredible powers and a renewed purpose, Gates is tasked with fighting a secret army lurking behind the veils of society while also peeling back his own secrets.

The most recent draft of the adaptation was written by Zak Olkewicz (LIGHTS OUT co-producer). Wan's co-producers are Ross Richie, Adam Yoelin, and Stephen Christy.
