You’re gonna have to wait for more Jessica Jones on Netflix

Marvel Television and Netflix are taking their sweet time with their series. You can watch one in the spring and one in the fall, and that two-a-year pace seems to be where we're at right now for consumption of the shows. But that doesn't mean Netflix wouldn't mind trying to speed up the pace a bit in order to shrink the downtime we end up with between the end of one series' season and the start of another's.

Speaking at the TCA, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos answered a question about whether we could see an increase from two series a year to five by saying, "I doubt that we could produce at the quality that they produce at that speed. But we’re gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them."

He also clarified that the schedule will see LUKE CAGE released this year, and then IRON FIST and THE DEFENDERS for next year… nothing in-between. That means the soonest we would get another season of JESSICA JONES is 2018, same for that solo run for the Punisher. It might be even longer for more DAREDEVIL, if they don't add a little more hustle to their model. Either way, you're going to have to wait for some Marvel character you enjoy to get more episodes on Netflix.

However, on the bright side, Sarandos did hesitate when asked if the Punisher would be involved in THE DEFENDERS. After stating that "the whole cast is called on for THE DEFENDERS, which changes the production schedule for the other shows," a follow-up inquired if Jon Bernthal was a part of "the whole cast." His reply: "Uh… stay tuned."

LUKE CAGE is the next Marvel series up on Netflix, and it premieres on September 30.
