Zack Snyder says he would want to cast Lebron James in a future Rebel Moon movie

Zack Snyder’s space opera, Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire, is ready to take audiences on an epic journey. The premiere of the Netflix film was held this week in Los Angeles. Our own Chris Bumbray was able to attend and he came away tweeting that the movie “owes a lot to Star Wars and a ton to The Magnificent Seven, but it’s also way more entertaining than anything Lucasfilm has put out in a while.” And in another tweet, “Very old-school Star Wars. Felt like a movie that could have been made in 1980, but in a good way.” He also noted that Netflix may have made an error in their release approach. “Netflix could have made a mint with this in theaters given how weak a line up of tentpoles we have in theaters this Christmas.”

Rebel Moon is split into two parts, but Snyder definitely doesn’t think the universe can stop there. Snyder spoke to Variety at the premiere where he explained, “We have sort of an arc for this storyline that is a little bit longer … This movie will end and, in April, you’ll get another one, which is really even crazier than this one.” Snyder then adds, “I think it’s going to be really fun for audiences to be able to so quickly get this second installment. And then beyond that, we have a few more ideas up our sleeve. So that’d be fun.” His wife and producer, Deborah Snyder, says, “We have the dream cast.” The director would then say, “I have an embarrassment of riches. To dream bigger than that just seems rude. I think if I could get LeBron James in the movie … I know that sounds crazy. I’m just saying … but yeah, we’ll see as the story evolves.”

The star of Rebel Moon, Sofia Boutella, might see a reunion with her former co-star from Atomic Blonde, Charlize Theron, joining the film series as her “wife.” Boutella reacted by saying, “That would be amazing. I would love that.” According to Variety, “Snyder is developing a Rebel Moon comic book series, mobile game (‘I would love to do big console game,’ he says), an animated component, and is even releasing his first book of photography featuring a collection of black and white portraits he shot on set.”
