I honestly don’t know what to expect from Zack Snyder’s SUCKER PUNCH, and you know what? That’s a great thing. All too often we find out everything about a flick while it’s in production, sometimes all we need is in the synopsis. But that isn’t the case with SUCKER PUNCH which, not unlike most of the director’s films thus far, appears to be a surreal, violent trip on a massive scale. Hell, the movie’s tagline says it all: “You will be unprepared.”
Just look at the newly opened official site for the film and you’ll see what I mean. There isn’t much to it quite yet, but what is there is worth a look. Click the image above to get a preview. It’s weird. And kinda awesome.
Set in the 1950s, Sucker Punch follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
SUCKER PUNCH stars Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, Oscar Isaac and Scott Glenn. It hits theaters on MARCH 25,2011. Expect to read LOTS about it after it (hopefully) blows people away at its Comic-Con presentation.
