Variety is reporting that Bo Zenga (right) is setting up shop for STAN HELSING. The movie will take place on Halloween night, when a videostore clerk, Stan Helsing, must reluctantly save a town from the six most-feared monsters in cinematic history.
Oh, I forgot to mention Mr. Zenga was a producer on SCARY MOVIE. Now don’t start throwing things around in frustration just yet. SCARY MOVIE was the only film Zenga had a hand in. He had nothing to do with any of the sequels or any of those other MOVIE movies. That’s some silver lining!
That plot, coupled with the fact that Zenga had nothing to do with all those other spoofs, equals some serious potential in my opinion. The synopsis does sound promising. Apparently the film will spoof ‘six of the highest-grossing monster movies of all time.’ And seeing how they’re singiling out six monsters for Stan to face, I’m assuming we’re looking at a werewolf, a vampire, a mummy.. you get the idea.
I’ll wait to see more from Zenga before judging STAN HELSING, but the ‘average joe that has to fight monsters’ I’m looking forward to is Jack Brooks.
Scott Steindorf’s Stone Village Pictures will be setting up STAN HELSING. Zenga had the following to say about the project:
“STAN HELSING’ spoofs the six biggest movie monster franchises of all time, which collectively have grossed over $1 billion worldwide. We expect to take a healthy bite of that number.”
We’ll keep you updated on STAN HELSING.
