Zero Contact trailer: Anthony Hopkins stars in hi-tech thriller coming to theatres and VOD

Lionsgate will be giving the hi-tech thriller Zero Contact a digital, VOD, and limited theatrical release on May 27th. With the release just two weeks away, a trailer has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above. Zero Contact drops stars Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), Chris Brochu (The Vampire Diaries), and Aleks Paunovic (Hawkeye) into a story that

chillingly reimagines our isolated, virtual world. Hopkins plays Finley Hart, the eccentric genius behind a global data-mining program. Upon his death, five remote agents — including Finley’s son — are contacted by a mysterious A.I. entity to reactivate the initiative, which may enable time travel. As sinister events occur at each of the agents’ homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world…or destroy it.

Zero Contact was directed by Rick Dugdale, who made his feature directorial debut on this project after more than twenty years of working as a producer. Judging by Dugdale’s IMDb page, this is a trilogy in the making, because sequels Zero Contact: The Reset and Zero Contact: Pole to Pole are already listed as being in production. All three of the films have been written by Cam Cannon, whose previous credits include A Haunting at Silver Falls, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, and the Bruce Willis film Deadlock.

Dugdale and Cannon produced Zero Contact together, along with Peter Toumasis. Ardy Brent Carlson and Matt Zogaric co-produced, with Jim Agnew, Dan Fellman, Håkan Karlsson, Sean Keller, Daniel Petrie Jr., and Bryan Sullivan serving as executive producers.

I can’t say I was blown away by the trailer, as I’m not very interested in watching a movie that looks like it was shot by the actors from the comfort of their own homes and hotel rooms at the height of the pandemic. But if there’s positive word of mouth, I’ll give it a chance.
