ZOMBIELAND was last fall’s surprise hit horror comedy, and it continues to kick much ass on DVD and Blu-ray. It’s really no surprise that they’re making a ZOMBIELAND 2, and it should also be of no surprise that the sequel will be in 3D.
ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer sat down and chatted with Icon VS Icon about all sorts of stuff this week, including briefly touching on the current status of ZOMBIELAND 2. And since that’s why we’re both here, check out what the man had to say:
We have been talking to the studio and we pitched them some ideas that they seemed to really like. We are definitely doing the film in 3D. Sony has their own 3D division now and we are going to go get a little tour of that on Tuesday (3/2/2010), of the 3D department. I know that the cast are all excited to be a part of the sequel, so it should be a great, fun movie to make! The script is about to be written and hopefully we will shoot it sometime towards the end of the year or early next year.
Sounds like an October 2011 release to me! Which should be just enough space between movies to warrant a sequel. Good stuff. And in 3D? Fleischer is obviously a talented bastard behind the camera, so I can only imagine the crazy 3D visuals he’s gonna be pulling off in the third dimension.
