Tom Hardy entertains playing James Bond if Christopher Nolan were involved

Fun Fact: Tom Hardy would really like to portray the theatrical super spy, James Bond, at some point in his career. Even if the MAD MAX: FURY ROAD actor tries to downplay his zeal about his aspirations to suit up and request that his martinis be shaken, not stirred, Hardy can’t help but gush about the prospects of his oft-times collaborative partner, Christopher Nolan, directing a 007 thrill ride some time down the line.

When the progressively liberal news website, The Daily Beast, mentioned that helming a James Bond adventure was kind of a bucket list project for the INCEPTION and INTERSTELLAR director, Hardy could barely contain himself by saying:

Oh wow, Chris would be amazing!

When inquiring about his own aspirations to play the iconic MI6 agent, Tom responded with the following:

You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone. But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie. And because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard reimagination to follow after. I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound — again.

Now, we’ve no idea what’s on the horizon in regard to the turbulent tales of Agent 007, but one could surmise that SPECTER (2015) won’t be the last time we watch Bond tussle and woo his way through an intricate and action-packed mission for the betterment of mankind.

You can catch Tom Hardy when he joins the cast of Christopher Nolan’s war epic, DUNKIRK, which is scheduled for a July 21, 2017 release.
