Hopefully looking to put a once and for all end to these wan, touchy-feely vampires that have taken over as of late, the ghastly bloodsuckers from Michael and Peter Spierig’s DAYBREAKERS have just taken a bite out of television.
That’s right! The first official TV spot for the futuristic genre mélange has hit, and it looks pretty friggin’ killer! I mean, with the awesome trio of Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke and Sam Neill – how the hell could it not, right?!?
Taking place in the year 2019, DAYBREAKERS shapes around a plague which has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.
Uh oh. Vampires integrated into society? I smell an ongoing trend of emo, over-thinking bloodsuckers. Not good!
What do you all think? Can this be a badass return to form for the vampire in general, or is this falling in lockstep with the current sissified version of onscreen vamps?
Aside from the three cats mentioned, the flick stars the stunning Isabel Lucas, as well as Claudia Karvan, Mungo McKay, Emma Randall, Michelle Atkinson, Jay Laga’aia, Vince Colosimo, Robyn Moore and Christopher Kirby.
