Ah, THE ROAD. Now we’re talking my cup-a-joe. And though the general movie going populace is no doubt bound to keep NEW MOON theaters crowded through Thanksgiving, it is John Hillcoat’s adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning Cormac McCarthy novel that I, and hopefully you, will be checking out.
Set for travel next Wednesday (Nov. 25th), THE ROAD finds the bond between a father and son strengthen after the two wonder an ash-heap of a post-apocalyptic Earth. As you know by now, Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron star, with Kodi Smit-McPhee, Bobby Duvall, Guy Pearce, Garrett Dillahunt, and Molly Parker lending support.
And so with only 5 days and counting, it only seems appropriate we get a few, albeit brief, clips from the film to ramp up our desire to see the damn thing. The first clip is entitled “Never Gonna Quit” in which Mortensen’s character explains the virtues of perseverance to his kin. The second clip, called “The Day Before” illustrates the mindset of the father and son on the eve of the apocalypse. And the third clip, known as “The Man’s Dream,” is a lyrical flashback of sorts to what goes on in the mind of a father in the wake of such devastation.
All cool shite, if I may say so myself. It’s no secret THE ROAD is one of my most anticipated flicks of the year, so I’m biased. But so what?
