3 Orphan tv spots!

Warner Bros. and Dark Castle’s new horror flick ORPHAN is generating a healthy bit of buzz right now. Not for any good reasons, mind you; the flick is stirring up shit with the adoption community, who apparently believe the movie is giving the idea of adopting a little evil crazy kid a bad name. (Okay, not really – their gripe is with a line in the trailer: “It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own child” – and I get where they are coming from in a way. For an interesting take on the issue, head on over HERE.)

Outside of that controversy, the only reason to get up in arms over ORPHAN is because it looks like generic, time-wasting junk. Of course, that’s most of Dark Castle’s catalogue, so I shouldn’t be so surprised. It was, however, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who helmed what I think is Dark Castle’s “best” movie, HOUSE OF WAX. The term “best” is used extremely loosely; I just find that it has a couple of terrific sequences. Who doesn’t love the bit where the villain cuts of Elisha Cuthbert’s finger? That’s good stuff, people!

Anyway, here are a few t.v. ads for ORPHAN, so you can judge for yourself whether or not this looks like something worth checking out. It hits theaters on JULY 24th.
