Vitriol. Pure vitriol I’m filled with for missing Michael Winterbottom’s ruthless new feature THE KILLER INSIDE ME in its limited theatrical run. Why is it the most interesting flicks get the most restricted exhibition slates, and the most banal cookie-cutter efforts enjoy oversaturated booking? Just another example of all that is wrong in the current climate of movie making, wouldn’t ya say?!?
Anyhoo, now that Winterbottom’s polemic thriller is most likely out of theaters, IFC has wisely designed a way to keep interest in the film. That’s right, four colorful new character banners – featuring stars Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson – have just been issued online. We’ve got them bastards below if ya care to take a look!
Based on the novel by legendary pulp writer Jim Thompson, Michael Winterbottom’s THE KILLER INSIDE ME tells the story of handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff’s deputy Lou Ford.
Lou has a bunch of problems. Woman problems. Law enforcement problems. An ever-growing pile of murder victims in his West Texas jurisdiction. And the fact he’s a sadist, a psychopath, a killer. Suspicion begins to fall on Lou, and it’s only a matter of time before he runs out of alibis. But in Thompson’s savage, bleak, blacker than noir universe nothing is ever what it seems, and it turns out that the investigators pursuing him might have a secret of their own.
As if you need more to persuade you, peep the rest of the cast. Simon Baker, Elias Koteas, Bill Pullman, Ned Beatty, Brent Briscoe and Tom Bower all lend supporting work in the film.
