5 No Country clips

JoBloJoBlo

I love these five new clips of the Coen Brothers’ upcoming NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel. But I gotta ask myself: do I love them because they remind me of the Coen golden age, or do I love them because the buzz out of Cannes, where it recently premiered, has been ecstatic. It’s hard not be influenced by a maelstrom of positivity, which includes opinions like the coveted ‘return to form.’ I love the Coen’s old form, so when I hear that they’re returning to it, naturally I get excited.

But you know what? I’m going to guess the Cannes response has nothing to do with my enjoyment of these clips. I’m guessing my enjoyment has something to do with the captivating creepiness of the Javier Bardem character, or just the simple reminder of some of the Coens earlier crime classics. COUNTRY focuses on a hunter (Josh Brolin) who stumbles upon a murder scene and grabs 2 million in cash from it, only to find himself stalked by a ruthless killer (Bardem) bent on reclaiming what’s his. This is, of course a Coen Brothers, so expect far more complexity than that, but I’m done writing. It’s time you check out these clips, right HERE. The movie is released on November 21.
