The Witcher featurettes introduce Geralt, Cirilla, and Yennefer

We're just over a week from the day when the first season of The Witcher will be reaching the Netflix streaming service, and I have to admit that I still know next to nothing about this property. I know the show will be based on a series of stories written by Andrzej Sapkowski that has also inspired a Polish film, a Polish TV show, and some popular video games, but I have no familiarity with any of those things. So it's good for me and other potential viewers who don't know anything about The Witcher that Netflix has released a trio of featurettes that introduce some of the new show's characters.

Developed for Netflix by showrunner/executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher is described as

an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

The show's cast includes Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Cholatra as characters named Geralt, Cirilla, and Yennefer, and those are the characters that the featurettes embedded above and below focus on.

Other cast members include Jodhi May as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, Emma Appleton as Renfri, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Maciej Musia as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, and Anna Shaffer as Triss.

The first season of The Witcher will be available to watch on Netflix as of December 20th.

After seeing these featurettes, I'm more interested in watching the show than I was before.
