Al Pacino leads a group of Nazi-killers in teaser for Amazon’s Hunters

Al Pacino hasn't stepped into the world of television all that often, but he'll be taking the lead in an upcoming new series from Amazon Prime Video. Inspired by true events, Hunters follows a diverse band of Nazi Hunters in 1977 New York City who discover that hundreds of escaped Nazis are living in America. And so, they do what any bad-ass vigilante squad would do: they set out on a bloody quest for revenge and justice. But they soon discover a far-reaching conspiracy and must race against time to thwart the Nazis’ new genocidal plans.

Pacino stars as Meyer Offerman, the leader of this rag-tag group of Nazi-hunters, and the series also stars Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Dylan Baker, and Lena Olin. Hunters was created by David Weil, who told Entertainment Weekly that he tapped into his own personal history for the series as his grandmother was a Holocaust survivor. "It was such a strange and jarring thing to hear as a kid," Weil said, adding that he processed the stories the only way he could at that young age. "I saw those stories as comic book stories, stories of grand good versus grand evil, and that became the lens through which I saw the Holocaust."

Hunters will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
