Hellboy shares a moment with Professor Broom in new image from the reboot

At long last, we finally got a look at David Harbour in action as Hellboy when the first trailer for the upcoming reboot dropped a week ago. Reactions to the trailer were…mixed to say the least, but I'm still curious to see how this supposedly darker and grittier cinematic version of the Mike Mignola character shakes out. That first peek certainly played up the humour more than I anticipated, but I'm assuming we'll get a look at the "darker, more horror version of Hellboy" which the creators have been talking about all this time as the release date gets closer.

In the meantime, Empire have revealed a new image from HELLBOY which features Professor 'Broom' Bruttenholm (Ian McShane) sharing a moment with Hellboy (Harbour). Check it out!

"Son, we've really got to deal with that back hair."

David Harbour told Empire that HELLBOY will find the title character being much more brutal than we've previously seen. "There’s really a sense that you’re actually killing things, even if they are giants or monsters. You’re chopping their heads off, you’re bathing in their blood and you’re feeling the complex feelings of actually cutting the heart out of another thing," Harbour said. "We’re taking the time to deal with the fact that Hellboy is a killer. He’s a weapon." The upcoming film will find Hellboy caught between the worlds of supernatural and human as he battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. In addition to David Harbour and Ian McShane, HELLBOY also stars Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, and Daniel Dae Kim.

HELLBOY is set to hit theaters on April 12,  2019.
