So it looks like while the FRIDAY THE 13TH film franchise is currently dead in the water, the series is going to continue in videogame form with FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME. Now, this won't be the first FRIDAY THE 13TH videogame, but it's the first one where you get to play as Jason himself.
Anyway, here's a trailer that premiered at PAX East:
Well, that was more music video than trailer, but at least it was gameplay footage, which puts it a cut above the the usual videogame trailer. And while never really a fan of the franchise myself, I have to admit the idea of a multiplayer game where one person plays Jason (with the meta-ability to teleport wherever he wants on the map) while the rest of the players play (most likely horny) teen counselors just trying to survive seems like the right way to go. Also some of those kills were pretty fuckin' brutal (I'm partial to the toilet drowning and spear-through-the-ear m'self).
Either way, FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME will kill horny teenagers sometime this year, with the multiplayer reportedly being released in summer, while a single player campaign will come out later in the fall.
