Gerard Butler prepares for the apocalypse in the teaser trailer for Geostorm

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong – the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything. Cue a very concerned Gerard Butler in the first teaser trailer for GEOSTORM!

While this trailer fares better than yesterday's teaser, it's certainly lacking in any kind of real hook. The premise is pretty cool, but the film itself looks like 2012 all over again. On the other hand, disaster movies like this don't generally need to be Best Picture contenders. As long as it's entertaining and moves at a good pace, I think Dean Devlin will have a decent picture on his hands.

GEOSTORM opens in theaters on October 20, 2017.
