Tom Hardy coyly addresses Star Wars: Episode VIII rumors

Rumors started around May of last year that Tom Hardy would play a cameo of sorts in STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII (a la Daniel Craig in FORCE AWAKENS). There's even a breakdown of the scene, if you want you to check it out HERE. Of course, there hasn't been much said on that front since, but in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom was asked about that role again. His answers may or may not allude to a secret cameo, but you can check out the exchange for yourself below.

THR: Final question – Rumor has it you're going to be a Stormtrooper in the next Star Wars movie. True?

Tom Hardy: I don't know if I can even say that. Where did you hear that?

THR: The internet.

Tom Hardy: Ah, the internet is a glorious web of deceit and misinformation, isn't it? (Laughs.)

THR: So that's misinformation?

Tom Hardy: It could be, couldn't it?

Oh that son of a bitch! Tom may not have a filter when it comes to interviews, but he certainly knows how to play into expectations! I think it's really cute that a lot of actors are seeking out cameos in a galaxy far, far away and I'm more than down with seeing Tom Hardy pop up for a minute, if only under the guise of a First Order trooper. On the other hand, I'd be more than okay with the man taking on a pivotal role in the series too. Can't we have both?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII is scheduled to hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
