Hideo Kojima has found his new star in Bill Skarsgård according to Variety. Previously, Kojima tapped The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus to play the main character in his hit game series, Death Stranding. Kojima’s new project will be titled Physint and the game will be more action and espionage. Skarsgård’s casting comes after the recent announcement that Kojima will be publishing this upcoming game at Xbox after Playstation scrapped the project from their slate, despite having a long partnership with the video game creator.

Kojima was already set to have his other upcoming project, OD, published by Xbox, which was set to come out before Physint. OD was said to be more of a horror game made in collaboration with horror director, Jordan Peele, which features a cast including Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer.

Skarsgård in Physint

The official description of Physint by Kojima Productions reads,
Physint is the third original IP from Kojima Productions and has been described by Hideo Kojima as the culmination of his 40-year career as a video game creator. With the full support of Xbox, Physint will use cutting-edge technology and a stellar cast to create a game experience like no other, with the aim of setting a new benchmark for the action-espionage genre.” Skarsgård joins an already established cast that includes Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe.

Kojima stated during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast, “I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for Physint will be Bill Skarsgård. We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together. The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project.”

Death Stranding movie

The live-action adaptation of Kojima’s Death Stranding is inching closer to reality as director Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One), said he turned in a second draft of the script a few months ago with hopes to start shooting the movie next year in Iceland and Northern Ireland. Sarnoski’s Death Stranding is expected to tell an original story set in the Death Stranding universe created by Hideo Kojima. However, Sarnoski says his version of the story includes “overlapping characters” from the games, so fans can expect to see some of their favorites from the game series.
