The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus has found his next starring role. According to Variety, Reedus will star alongside James Marsden in Apple TV’s Disavowed. The nature of Reedus’ role remains a mystery, but anticipation is already high for the series, created by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Interestingly, this marks a reunion for Reedus and Marsden, who previously co-starred in the 2000 thriller Gossip.
According to its official logline, Disavowed “follows legendary CIA Case Officer Brad Griffin (Marsden), who is abruptly fired in the middle of a global hunt for an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague. Disgraced and outcast from the world of intelligence, all bets are off when Brad decides to go after the 15 million dollar federal bounty on the assassin’s head.”
From Boondock Saints to Daryl Dixon
While old heads remember Reedus as Murphy MacManus from The Boondock Saints franchise, millions know him best as Daryl Dixon from AMC‘s The Walking Dead. Reedus helped lead TWD for 11 seasons before launching his own spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which wraps up with its fourth and final season in 2027.
What Else Is Norman Reedus Working On?
Reedus also recently completed two major film projects: Ben Shirinian’s historical drama The Housewife and Mark Heyman’s folk-horror thriller Pendulum. In The Housewife, starring Naomi Watts, Luke Evans, Tye Sheridan, and Michael Imperioli, a New York Times journalist tracks down a potential Nazi officer living secretly in Queens. But when he befriends the suspect’s elegant and charming wife, the implications of his investigation become much more unsettling.
Meanwhile, Pendulum stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jena Malone, Phoebe Dynevor, and Jacki Weaver. It follows a couple who travel to a retreat in New Mexico in search of healing. Patrick (Gordon-Levitt) grows skeptical of the retreat’s leader as Abigail (Dynevor) falls under her influence, leaving them to wonder if the group’s practices offer genuine recovery or conceal a terrifying truth.
Could Reedus Re-Team with Hideo Kojima?
What’s your favorite Norman Reedus joint? As much as I enjoy his live-action film and television work, I really love his performance in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding video game series. Kojima has another star-studded game in the works, OD, featuring performances from Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer. Given their collaborative history, I wouldn’t be surprised if Reedus makes an appearance in OD, though his participation remains unconfirmed.
