Matthew McConaughey period piece Gold gets shiny new poster

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

GOLD starring Matthew McConaughey (not be confused with FOOL'S GOLD…also starring Matthew McConaughey) has just dropped a new poster on us:

GOLD is the epic tale of one man’s pursuit of the American dream, to discover gold.  Starring Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, a prospector desperate for a lucky break, he teams up with a similarly eager geologist and sets off on an amazing journey to find gold in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia.   Getting the gold was hard, but keeping it would be even harder, sparking an adventure through the most powerful boardrooms of Wall Street. The film is inspired by a true story.

Film sounds intriguing. I like the fact that the story, while initially sounding like some INDIANA JONES rip-off, actually ends up in "the boardrooms of Wall Street". That seems to be an interesting twist on these types of adventure movies. How exactly do you monetize all the gold and artifacts you find?

Directed by Stephen Gaghan (who hasn't directed a feature since SYRIANA) and also starring Edgar Ramirez and Bryce Dallas Howard, the film opens wide Christmas Day. I mean, who wouldn't want gold on Christmas?
