The Force Awakens rumored to hit Blu-ray/DVD in early April

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For anyone that's pre-ordered STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS from Amazon, you may have received a notification that the Blu-ray/DVD would be released on April 5th. That date has since been taken down from Amazon.com but, as Bill Hunt from The Digital Bits points out, the date is still listed on Amazon Canada (UPDATE: Which has now been taken down as well). He also makes mention of Disney Store's listing, which includes some technical specs like a 7.1 DTS audio track. This is just the beginning, as I'm sure there will be store-exclusive variations (gotta love those…) and probably a 3D release.

Now that FORCE AWAKENS is slowing down a bit, box office-wise, it makes sense to capitalize on everyone's excitement for the film and get it on shelves before the summer movie season hits. That would also help pave the way for ROGUE ONE's trailer (if attached to CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR) to get everyone excited for another STAR WARS film in theaters. While the date is subject to change of course, I'm thinking we'll hear an official announcement very soon.
