Last Updated on September 22, 2021

For those of you rocking 4K televisions, or if you have plans to pick up a 4K TV this year, this announcement is for you! The latest n’ greatest in home video, dubbed Ultra HD (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, if you want to be long-winded about it), will be hitting sometime early this year. If you need to be filled in on the details of Ultra HD, you can check out our previous article here. While we don’t have an exact date for the release of Ultra HD just yet, we do have some exact titles.

Warner Bros. has just announced their launch line-up, which includes MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, SAN ANDREAS, THE LEGO MOVIE and PAN, with a promise that a total of 35 flicks would be available by the end of the year. Thanks to The Digital Bits, we also have a list of other titles hitting this year, which include MAN OF STEEL, PACIFIC RIM, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, SALT, HANCOCK, CHAPPIE, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, THE SMURFS 2 (alright!), HITMAN: AGENT 47, WILD, THE MARTIAN, LIFE OF PI, EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS, FANTASTIC 4, THE MAZE RUNNER, MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE.

With the Consumer Electronics Show going down soon in Las Vegas, we’ll probably have some more information to report regarding Ultra HD. Suffice it to say that if you’re a techie who’s into the highest resolution possible, now’s probably a good time to start saving up. For everyone else, Blu-ray will suit ya just fine. If you’re still spinning DVDs on a regular basis, may God have mercy on your soul.

Are you eager to adopt the Ultra HD format?
