Lea Seydoux gets Gambit offer; the role is hers if she wants it

Earlier in the month it was reported that GAMBIT director Rupert Wyatt and Fox had narrowed their list of leading ladies down to Rebecca Ferguson, Abbey Lee, and Lea Seydoux; now Deadline reports that an offer has been made to one of those three and that the role is hers should she want it. The recipient of said offer, Lea Seydoux.

Seydoux would play Bella Donna Boudreaux who, in the X-Men comics at least, had been Remy LeBeau's love since childhood and later develops powers of her own and becomes head of the Assassin's Guild. It's not clear how closely, if at all, the new film will follow the comic origins of Bella, but Lea Seydoux definitely has more than it takes to bring the character to life. Seydoux's next big-screen outing will be in SPECTRE as Dr. Madeleine Swann.

There was a brief hiccup several weeks ago when news leaked that Channing Tatum hadn't actually signed on to the role and that negotiations weren't going as smoothly as the studios were hoping, but it didn't take long before the actor officially signed on the dotted line. Channing Tatum and Lea Seydoux, if she accepts the offer, should begin shooting GAMBIT this fall for October 7, 2016 release.

Is Lea Seydoux the best choice for the role?
