Deadwood’s Ian McShane joins Game of Thrones Season 6

Game of Thrones Ian McShane

Game of Thrones has landed one hell of an actor for its upcoming season. EW is reported that Ian McShane has been cast in a mystery role for the sixth season of the series. While there's no details on his role, sources tell EW that "McShane has a relatively small amount of screen-time during the season, yet his character is of key importance."

Even fans of George R. R. Martin's fantasy novels may have a hard time figuring out which character Ian McShane might be playing, now that the HBO series (which last week we learned will last for at least eight seasons) has caught up with the books. Although probably best known for his Al Swearengen role on Deadwood, the British actor has also appeared in films such as PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, JACK THE GIANT SLAYER, HERCULES and, most recently, JOHN WICK. Any guesses as to who McShane has been cast as in the next season of Game of Thrones?

Filming is underway for Game of Thrones Season 6, and it is expected to premiere next spring. Ian McShane has a few upcoming movies, including the Sacha Baron Cohen-led spy comedy GRIMSBY, which is set to be released on March 4, 2016.
