Earlier this week, it was announced that Daredevil: Born Again would be coming to an end after its upcoming third season, and now Vincent D’Onofrio has reacted to the cancellation.
Vincent D’Onofrio on Daredevil: Born Again Cancellation
The actor has played Kingpin for over a decade, beginning with the original Daredevil series on Netflix in 2015. He returned for Hawkeye, Echo, and Daredevil: Born Again, but that long run may be coming to an end.
“We so enjoyed bringing Daredevil: Born Again to you all,” D’Onofrio wrote on X. “You stuck with us and I like to think we stuck with you. We have the final Season, season 3 heading your way next year with some very cool stuff. Much love to all who have been supportive. I love that character Fisk. Always will. Off to another neck of the woods. Meanwhile… Season 3 is coming!“
Of course, this doesn’t mean we won’t see Daredevil (or Kingpin) again, but I suppose that all depends on where these characters wind up when all is said and done.
The Third Season
The third season of Daredevil: Born Again wrapped filming several months ago and is in the midst of post-production; however, it will do so without its showrunner. Dario Scardapane, who took over the show during its creative overhaul, has “quietly parted ways” with the studio. His contract was up and was not renewed, but it’s odd for the showrunner to exit the series while it’s still in post-production. It’s not clear who will see it over the finish line.
The third and final season will debut on Disney+ in March 2027.
What We Thought of the Last Season
Our own Alex Maidy is a big fan, saying the second season of Daredevil: Born Again might be one of the best seasons of television in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
