A sequel to Ben Stiller's ZOOLANDER is something which I never expected would happen, perhaps if I were bulimic I would have seen it coming. Paramount has just released the first teaser trailer for ZOOLANDER 2, so take a break from your gasoline fights and quit admiring your chiseled abs and stunning features and check out the return of the one, the only, Derek Zoolander.
Many of the old gang have returned for the sequel, including Owen Wilson (Hansel), Christine Taylor (Matilda), and Will Ferrell (Mugatu) among others. Unfortunately we don't have much information as to what ZOOLANDER 2 will be about beyond what Ben Stiller already revealed several years ago:
It's ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don't want to give away too much, but it's basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note, a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they're not really relevant anymore. It's a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he's expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way.
ZOOLANDER 2 recently wrapped production in Rome and is set to be released on February 12, 2016.
