Spoiler: Kevin Feige teases more Captain America: Civil War cast additions

Warning: The following story may contain spoilers for the ending of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Proceed at your own risk.

As we scramble to figure out which characters will make it out of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and into the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like we now have confirmation of at least one new cast-member who will make it into CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. In an interview with Badass Digest, Marvel's Kevin Feige revealed that because of her inclusion in early drafts of AGE OF ULTRON, director Joss Whedon shot some FX plates for a possible cameo from Captain Marvel. While he explains that the cameo does not in fact happen, those plates did not go to waste.

The way we reveal Scarlet Witch [in costume] at the end of the movie? Those were Captain Marvel plate shots. Joss said, ‘We’ll cast her later!’ And I said, ‘Yeah Joss, we’ll cast her later.’ [Whispers to an invisible associate who isn't Joss] ‘We’re not putting her in there!’

Finally Joss was like ‘Let’s use those plates to let Scarlet Witch fly into frame, give her a big entrance?’ And that makes sense – she’s come to their side, and she deserves the cool intro, which will feed into another movie we start shooting in a few weeks.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the only Marvel film shooting in a few weeks is CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Basically, Feige just confirmed two things: Captain Marvel is not in AGE OF ULTRON and Scarlet Witch is in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. This now raises another question: what happens to Quicksilver in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

Elizabeth Olsen donning the traditional Scarlet Witch costume seems like a nice trea for fans and would make for a nice close to the sequel. It also means that CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is on the brink of outgrowing the CAPTAIN AMERICA portion of it's title since more than half of the MCU is set to appear.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
