M. Night Shyamalan likes Patton Oswalt’s ideas for two Unbreakable sequels

Patton Oswalt is a movie geek of the highest order. His two memoirs prove he knows quite a bit about film and pop culture and he has cropped up everywhere from JUSTIFIED to AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. So, when he makes an appearance on a movie website and says he has a plan for how to continue M. Night Shyamalan's UNBREAKABLE, you better pay attention.

Screen Junkies featured Oswalt on one of their recent videos where he outlined a pretty stellar plot for not only UNBREAKABLE 2 but a third film to finish the trilogy. Even as recently as a couple of months ago, Shyamalan said the long gestating sequel was not outside the realm of possibility. So, why not go with Oswalt's idea? Check out a summary below.

In the first sequel, since Mr. Glass is in an asylum, David Dunn realizes that Glass has found other “Unbreakables” around the world. This evidence is seen at the end of the first movie. So basically Unbreakable 2 is a recruitment of the real life Justice League. It ends with Dunn killing, or allowing one of his members to be killed, thereby putting everything he believes into question.

Unbreakable 3 would see Mr. Glass get out of the asylum. While in there, he’s been meeting new and interesting villains so he’s got his own super team. The main plot would then involve them trying to steal David Dunn’s blood so Mr. Glass could become Unbreakable.

To make things even cooler, Shyamalan responded on Twitter and then Patton Oswalt replied to him!

I have always liked UNBREAKABLE the most out of M. Night Shyamalan's films and it seemed like the natural candidate for further movies. Oswalt's ideas are not completely out there and the fact that they don't rely on insane plot twists means Shyamalan should absolutely consider them. Like Oswalt said, he wasn't kidding with his ideas. Maybe these two should meet up and hash this out. What do you think?
