Rumor: Does LL Cool J have a role in an upcoming Marvel movie?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

LL Cool J has carved himself a nice acting career, primarily on the small screen, and has lent himself to several roles in major motion pictures. But, is he superhero material? In a recent tweet, LL Cool J indicated that there may be something on the horizon for him in the near future.

A lot of people immediately jump to say Luke Cage, but that is a Netflix series and would undoubtedly conflict with his current role on NCIS: LOS ANGELES. No, LL Cool J specifically says “Marvel movie”. This could just be posturing on his part to try and sway interest from the studio, or maybe he knows something we don’t. I have a theory and it may make the most logical sense.

With Chadwick Boseman named as the lead in BLACK PANTHER, someone would need to play T’Challa’s father. The former king of Wakanda, T’Chaka, is slain and paves the way for his son to become Black Panther. This would be a smaller role, one that would require less commitment than a starring role, but would also benefit in having someone with name recognition in the part. LL Cool J has the physical presence to pull of a good warrior king and could appear in flashbacks and future films without affecting his TV commitments.

Again, this is all theory and based on a single tweet, but tell me I am crazy. We will find out sooner than later as BLACK PANTHER is set to hit screens on November 3, 2017.
