Seth Rogen thinks the MPAA ratings system is “stupid” and “weird”

Seth Rogen is mad as hell, and he's not going to take this anymore!

At the Produced By Conference on Saturday, Seth Rogen let loose on the MPAA ratings system, saying it "is so stupid why play that game?" and "Why even enter a system that stupid?"

Rogen goes on to say, "There’s nothing more frustrating than being on set and coming up with a joke and being told you can’t do it because it’s a PG movie. It’s like boxing with your hands tied behind your  back … because of some weird ratings structure. It’s just devastating."

Seth Rogen also talked about how much control he has with his films, and says the only reason why he was able to make NEIGHBORS after developing it for years was because the budget was cut in half.

Instead we literally cut the budget in half (to $18 million) and made the movie we wanted to make. At least we didn’t make a movie we hate and had to work on for a year and a half.

I think the best thing for Seth Rogen would be to stay away from PG projects. While I agree the ratings system can be a little ridiculous sometimes (the controversy with THE KING'S SPEECH comes to mind), there are reasons why it exists in the first place. It's a flawed system, that's for sure, but it's the one we've had for a long time, and I doubt there's going to be any major changes to it anytime soon.

What are your thoughts on the MPAA ratings system? Do you agree or disagree with Seth Rogen's comments? Sound off below!
