Earlier this year it was announced that Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne would be returning in a sequel to NEIGHBORS, because you can't just make one film that grosses over $250 million on a $20 million budget and walk away! Nicholas Stoller is also returning to direct a script from NEIGHBORS scribes Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. The plot synopsis for NEIGHBORS 2 will focus on a sorority that movies in next door to the couple. Rogen and Byrne then decide to enlist their former nemeses from the fraternity to help battle the raucous sisters. Judging from this latest casting, I'd say the film has their first sorority sister; Chloe Moretz.
It hasn't been stated who Ms. Moretz will be playing in NEIGHBORS 2, although KICK-ASS 2 showed us that Moretz can go the way of MEAN GIRLS and pull it off pretty efficiently. There's been no other plot details released for the follow-up, although given the sorority angle I'd imagine we can expect some of the same jokes from the first with a female twist. NEIGHBORS was not one of my favorite Rogen comedies, so maybe they'll improve upon the formula from the first.
NEIGHBORS 2 will be released in theaters on May 13, 2016.
