Workaholics’ Adam DeVine joins Zac Efron in Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates Jake Szymanski Adam DeVine Zac Efron

Variety has learned that Workaholics actor and co-creator Adam DeVine will star alongside Zac Efron in MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES, an upcoming comedy penned by Efron's NEIGHBORS screenwriters Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. SNL and Funny or Die director Jake Szymanski will helm the movie, which is based on a true story.

The film will follow two brothers (Efron and DeVine) who place an ad online to find wedding dates, and the ad goes viral. THR has a bit more info on the project, and according to the site, the brothers will come "across a pair of honeys who can out-party and out-immature our slovenly heroes."

Adam DeVine has seen his star rise in recent years thanks to Workaholics, as well as his well-received turn in PITCH PERFECT. Personally, I can't get into his Comedy Central series. Devine, Blake Anderson and Anders Holm are decent comedic actors and I don't think it is an awful show or anything, but for whatever reason it's just not my thing. MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES sounds like it could be a fun movie though, and I hope the filmmakers find a couple of great actresses to play the "pair of honeys."

Adam DeVine will return as Bumper in PITCH PERFECT 2 on May 15, 2015, and MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES is set to hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
