The KGB thriller we told you about that would have Steven Spielberg directing Tom Hanks again just got a lot more interesting. Joel and Ethan Coen have come onboard to write a draft of the screenplay. The thriller set during the Cold War would mark Hanks and Spielberg's fourth collaboration.

Here is the synopsis:

Based on the true story revolving around James Donovan (Hanks), a prominent American attorney enlisted by the CIA during the Cold War to slip behind the iron curtain to negotiate the release of a pilot captured when his U-2 spy plane was shot down over Russia.

The involvement of the Coen brothers gives the project even more prominence, not that it was needed. The movie is now in the lead to be Spielberg's next project with a September 2014 shoot in sight. Spielberg has a number of potential films on the go including an adaptation of Roald Dahl's THE BFG and MONTEZUMA. I'm all for Hanks and Spielberg re-teaming, who didn't love SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, and THE TERMINAL? These two always deliver. Also, Spielberg getting back to work on another thriller, bring it on! How awesome was MUNICH?

But dude, seriously…ROBOPOCALYPSE! We have all been waiting on the big-budget sci-fi spectacle for years now. We let you play around with stop-motion for THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN and we got back into the trenches with you for WAR HORSE, but we need ROBOPOCALYPSE now! What was I talking about again? Oh yes, the Cold War. Terrible thing that.

What is your favourite Hanks/Spielberg movie?
