Matthew McConaughey on Interstellar: Christopher Nolan’s most ambitious film

In a recent interview with Variety, Matthew McConaughey was asked about Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR. Not much is known about the new movie except it'll be dealing with a group of explorers using a wormhole, and based on the first trailer, Matthew McConaughey is going to cry a little at some point.

Since this is a Christopher Nolan flick though, McConaughey couldn't reveal plot details on the upcoming film. But he does say it will be the most ambitious thing Nolan has ever done.

"Here’s what I can tell you. It’s the most ambitious thing he’s ever done. And he’s done some ambitious stuff."

Matthew McConaughey also talked about how his movie MUD helped him land the role, and his meeting with Christopher Nolan for INTERSTELLAR,

"He came up to me and said, ‘“Mud.” I love that movie.’ [Later] I sat down with him for about 2½ hours at his house. Not one word came up about “Interstellar.” I walked out not sure what to think. I mean, he’s not a guy who takes general meetings."

McConaughey goes on to say Nolan doesn't mess around when he's working on a movie, and shooting finished early for INTERSTELLAR, which is almost always a good sign in my opinion.

"There’s no f***ing around on set. He’s a great problem solver. In that way, he’s very indie. Here’s a guy who could have whatever budget he wants — and we finished shooting early."

I'm glad I don't know a damn thing about INTERSTELLAR. Too many times it feels like we've already seen the entire movie in the trailer, or unavoidable spoilers are released. My only concern though is expectations are going to be way too high for Christopher Nolan's new flick. Although I really enjoyed INCEPTION, I know some people were expecting more from the film, and I think part of the reason was because of the huge amount of hype surrounding it before it was released.

But with an amazing cast, what are sure to be fantastic visuals, and an interesting story, INTERSTELLAR should be one hell of a movie.

INTERSTELLAR also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Topher Grace, Wes Bentley, Bill Irwin and Matt Damon, and will open on November 7th, 2014.
