Milla Jovovich to play the part of a femme fatale in period piece action-thriller Winter Queen

Milla Jovovich white top

You can only play an emotionally tortured ass-kicking evil-organization-hunting ex-amnesiac for so long (so.  long.) – sometimes you have to branch out and play a seductress who uses her sexuality as one of the many weapons in her arsenal. Kind of exactly like in THE THREE MUSKETEERS, actually, only now in a different movie called WINTER QUEEN too.  That Jovovich knows what she likes, or what we like as we’re the ones who keep rewarding her decisions by buying the tickets time and time again.

WINTER QUEEN isn’t about Jovovich’s character though, but rather follows a young Russian detective as he investigates a suspicious suicide.

St Petersburg, May 1886. What would cause a talented young student from a wealthy family to shoot himself in full view of the promenading public? Decadence and boredom, most likely, is what the commander of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Petersburg Police thinks, but he’s curious enough to send out the newest member of the Division, Erast Fandorin, a young man of irresistible charm, to investigate. Fandorin – naïve and anxious to learn – vacillates between bold bravery and full on fear as he throws himself wholeheartedly into this mystery. Murder and deception compete with duels and reckless gambling as Fandorin finds himself entangled in the web of the mysterious beauty, Amalia Bezhetskaya, a femme fatale who enjoys playing with the emotions of her wealthy admirers. Fandorin pursues Amalia to foggy London and back, getting himself in and out of deadly escapades. Is this all about money or are the murders and the attempts on Fandorin’s life part of an international terrorist plot? Is Amalia their siren like ambassador? In this nightmarish world, who can Fandorin trust?

Dame Judie Dench and Jamie Bell (THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN) are currently being sought for roles in the movie as well, with Bell presumably hoped to play the detective. Filming is scheduled to start in September, so we should be hearing plenty more soon enough.
