For you horror nuts expecting this to be a documentary about PHANTASM’s Angus Scrimm, you will be disappointed. This is in fact the trailer for a new supernatural thriller starring Jessica Biel. In France it is being distributed as THE SECRET as you can see in this international trailer.
Plot: In an isolated, slowly dying mining town, children are vanishing without a trace – abducted, the townsfolk whisper, by a mysterious entity known locally as “The Tall Man.” Town nurse Julia Denning seems skeptical…until her young David disappears in the middle of night. Frantic to rescue the boy, Julia lives every parent’s darkest nightmare in this twisting, shock-around-each-corner thriller from acclaimed director Pascal Laugier (“Martyrs”) called THE TALL MAN.
While this is the international trailer, I expected a little more from it. Jessica Biel is in some pretty high profile movies and yet this gives the stereotypical “direct to home video” feel. Pascal Laugier’s MARTYRS was an excellent horror film so I had higher expectations for this one.
Jessica Biel is hot but I don’t know if I trust her acting ability to carry an entire film. I have liked her in supporting roles but I get the same iffy vibe from her in this trailer.
THE TALL MAN opens in limited release on August 31st.
