Don’t cross Tyler Perry in the poster for Alex Cross

STAR TREK was on FX the other day and it caught me by surprise, again, that Tyler Perry was in the movie. I don’t know if he will ever not be thought of as “the Madea guy” first, but I applaud that he is stretching out to material aside from his own.

Stepping into Morgan Freeman’s shoes is a tough one, but I have a good feeling from what I have seen so far from ALEX CROSS. We now have an official poster to get us ready for the impending release of a trailer for the film.

Plot: After Washington DC detective Alex Cross is told that a family member has been murdered, he vows to track down the killer. He soon discovers that she was not his first victim and that things are not what they seem.

I think Perry is interesting casting for the film. Originally, Idris Elba was set to play Cross, which I think is spot on perfect, but I think Perry looks the role. Plus, Matthew Fox may steal the limelight. He looks downright evil in the poster and in the shirtless, disturbingly ripped photo from the film.

ALEX CROSS opens October 19, 2012.
