I would hope that by now everyone has had a chance to check out 2007s EASTERN PROMISES. If you haven’t, I highly suggest you take in a viewing.
You also need to catch up since they are making a sequel to the film. David Cronenberg will be back to direct the second installment with original script writer Steven Knight. Who else might be back? Viggo Mortensen has already signed on, but it looks like Vincent Cassel is negotiating to reunite with his co-star.
The sequel will pick up immediately where the first left off, “with the incompetent underboss Kirill (Cassel) thinking that he and his henchman driver Nikolai (Mortensen) really have inherited the throne from his crime-lord father, without knowing that Nikolai is actually a clandestine agent working undercover in Russia’s federal security service.”
Filming on the production will begin next year.
