Despite a report just last month that Scarlett Johansson will be in IRON MAN 3, the actress recently confirmed she will not be in the sequel.
With the addition of Ben Kingsley as a potential villain and Jessica Chastain, IRON MAN 3 is shaping up to be as big as the first two films. But, with other projects on her plate, Scarlett seems content to focus on Black Widow in the inevitable AVENGERS sequel or possibly a spin-off featuring Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye.
“Do I want to spend another three months shedding the manatee skin and squeezing back into that suit?” she laughed. “Not necessarily, but it’s all worth it in the end.”
Word has it that THE AVENGERS lays the groundwork for individual film follow ups for each of the superheroes. It remains to be seen if the fleshed-out (pun intended) Black Widow character is worthy of supporting her own action film.
