Tron: Uprising teaser brings you back to The Grid

TRON: LEGACY, while not perfect, was a fun movie. Just the fact that even got a sequel to TRON is a success in my book. While Disney plugs away at a script for the third movie, they are providing us an animated series to satiate us until that next big screen offering.

With JOHN CARTER leaving a bruise on their wallets, this may be the only TRON we get for a quite a while. Hopefully Disney will recognize the existing audience for the TRON franchise and plug ahead.

Here’s the short teaser for TRON: UPRISING.

TRON: UPRISING takes place between the original TRON and TRON: LEGACY.  Much like THE CLONE WARS exists between Episode II and III, this series does give the opportunity to revisit characters from both TRON films.

Synopsis: Beck is a young program who becomes the skillful leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever come to know. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting and light cycle skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but he will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful, strong leader. Destined to become the next Tron of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of General Tesler and his oppressive forces.

TRON: UPRISING stars Elijah Wood as Beck and also features the voices of Lance Henrikson, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, and Bruce Boxleitner. The show will premiere this June on Disney XD.
